Eleven years ago, a project called ‘Autolib’ emerged. The project Autolib was built on the success of the city's bike-rental scheme, and it also contained a bike-sharing program. The original intention of this project was to make electric cars an indispensable part of Paris. The electric cars can reduce air and noise pollution, which was the result Autolib wanted to have. Vélib and Autolib’ s common target was to reduce the damaging toxic substances that automobiles release. In scientists’ words, those emissions will cause more serious problems to the environment, and it will increase the pace of global warming development. Nowadays, more electric cars were invented, such as Tesla. Personally, I believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. In my opinion, I think electric cars should come into people’s life, and I am willing to welcome electric cars.
Obviously, electric cars are more environmentally friendly than ordinary cars who need oil and gas. Because electric cars do not need gasses and oil to drive, which means they produce less carbon dioxide into the air while driving. To start an electric car, we only needed to charge it with a battery. It benefits and protects the environment by reducing the air and noise pollution by having no tailpipe emissions. Global warming is caused by too much carbon dioxide emissions, and the main carbon dioxide emissions came from vehicles. From the data, a typical passenger vehicle emits about 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year. Sylvan Marty said that "The city's first interest is fighting air pollution. These cars not only don't emit carbon dioxide..., they also don't make noise.” Which further confirms that electric cars are reducing carbon dioxide emission and they do not cause noise pollution. It means a lot to the environment, and it is a successful progress of us humans trying to stop global warming.
Electric cars are saving energy for Earth, because what it uses is electricity produced from batteries and other renewable energy resources. We all know that fossil fuel is non – renewable, which means that it will soon disappear one day in the future. People have to be aware that one day the world will run out of fossil fuel. The consequence after the running out of fossil fuel will be very serious, and we don’t want it to happen. So, instead of using fossil fuel, electric cars’ electricity might be generated from wind, hydro, or solar. These are all renewable energy which means we will not be running out of them. Because they are renewable, they can provide electricity and energy endlessly for the electric cars.
On the other hand, electric cars are largely benefiting the consumers by economic saving. Nowadays, the wild rise in oil prices is a big problem for many drivers, because it makes many people unaffordable for the oil. Luckily, electric cars have perfectly solved this problem with higher fuel prices. Electric cars use batteries to work. The batteries have a long life and do not need us to replace them again and again, which makes it more convenient in another way. Actually, there are many parking areas where electric cars can charge. This convenience leaves an expense for the consumer. Also, ordinary cars have many parts inside that need to be maintained after a specific time. Oppositely, electric cars require less maintenance. Overall, electric cars can benefit the consumers by saving their money.
In conclusion, I think electric cars should come into people’s life, and I am willing to welcome electric cars, because of the next three arguments. First of all, protecting the environment is very important for all of us, and it is obvious that electric cars are more environmentally friendly than ordinary cars who need oil and gas. It benefits and protects the environment by reducing the air and noise pollution by having no tailpipe emissions.
