Critics of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry - Whose Lives Matter?

This story talks about four children named Stacey, Cassie, Christopher-John, and Little Man, who were African American. On their way to school a bus carrying white children always makes them dirty, so one day, they dug a trench and the bus fell into their trap. But one night, Cassie was frightened by night men. After a few days, Big Ma took her, Stacey, and T.J. to Strawberry, and Cassie was humiliated by a white girl. Over the course of many days, T.J. and the Simms made friends. But one day, they broke into a store, and after some people knew it they attacked T.J. 's family. But soon after, Cassie’s family’s cotton field caught fire, and many people came to put out the fire. In this story, and in real life the white people think that African Americans’ lives don’t matter. But in reality, that isn’t the case, so whose lives matter?

Actually all lives matter, but some people think that they are superior to others, that starts racism, when people think that one race is more important or better than another. This is how people start thinking that some people’s lives don’t matter. But all people have lives, and they can contribute something to society too. They can vote, donate, or help the society make a great achievement. In the story, Cassie’s father helped make a railroad and her mother was a teacher. Her father helped make more routes by train possible. And her mother helped get more children educated. This is an example of people doing something to help society. So, this is why all lives matter.

The second reason why every life is important is that all people can be friends with other people. People will think that their friends' lives are important. So if someone loses a friend they will feel sad. On the other hand, friends can help each other or accompany each other. When something sad happens they can comfort each other. When they’re bored, they can entertain each other. In the story, when T.J.  was hurt badly by the Simms, Stacey and the others helped him to return to his house, when he was attacked, they called Papa and Mr. Morrison to help him and his family. So, people are important to their friends.

The third reason is that all people have families that love and cherish them. Family members think that the people in their family matter. All people can support their family or help their family become rich or can simply just help their family in small ways. Like maybe writing poems to entertain other family members or helping out in the kitchen, or just getting a good education. In hard times, family members can help you, or maybe even vice versa. If they are not around to help you, you could have fallen to the problems many times before. So people are necessary to their families.

This story talks about four children all got humiliated by white people, because they were African American. One day they decided to take revenge on the bus that made them dirty and they dug a trap. Another time Cassie got revenge on a white girl by pretending to be her friend and knowing some of her secrets and also beating her up. One day, her friend was attacked and her family’s fields caught fire. Luckily, both cases were solved. This story tells us that all lives matter. People are essential to society, important to friends, and necessary to their families. So, the people who think that some people’s lives don't matter are wrong.
