Critical Review of The Watsons Go to Birmingham-1963

I read the Watsons go to Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis and talk about Byron doing things that are crazy. They went to their grandma’s house because of racism and segregation along the way. Byron also learned how to be more mature and be better to the family. From this story I learned that the history background in the story is not good, family is important and finally I want to make as many friends as possible.

The history background in the story is not good because of segregation. Segregation is the separation of on the look of their skin and that white people got treated better than the African Americans. The Watsons are African American so they are being mistreated and they cannot abandon the people of their own family. From this I learned that their history background is very ugly.

Family means alot to you because your parents made you alive and no matter what type of family. You should be respecting your mother and father and your siblings if they are older. But if you are older than your brother then you get to practice on how to lead. Family also means you never abandon one another. From this I learned that family should mean a lot to you and everybody.

Make as many friends as possible because the friends help each other and do many things like they are a family but for a short time of the day for most of the time. You need to make friends because you need someone else to talk to when you are in a hard mood. I have my brother to talk to and laugh with. From this I learned to make as many friends as possible so when you are down you can talk to them.

From this essay I learned that the history background in the story is not good, family is important and finally I want to make as many friends as possible. The year of 1963 is very close to the year 1964 and 1964 if when the civil rights movements started. Watson must be happy because they are not going to be mistreated. Segregation ended after more than a century after the civil war so if the south never tried to be segregated nothing too bad would have happened.
