Critical Review of The Monkey's Paw

Monkey Paw, written by W.W Jacobs, was a horror fiction, which was mainly about a story between the white family and that main antagonist, Sergent Morris. The Monkey paw can let the White family get three wishes, but the consequence was to kill your favorite person. The first wish he made was to get  £200, but as a consequence, his son, Herbert White died and this  £200 was compensation payment. The second wish is to have her son brought back to life, but as a consequence, Herbert comes back as a zombie. The third wish was for his son to be dead again and the consequences were that the mother saw him and she was in anguish. This book was scary but also exciting to read. And this book also contains three main themes that were very important to the plot and the climax of the story.

Human nature is a complex blend of instincts, emotions, and rational thinking that shapes our behaviors, decisions, and interactions with the world. Human nature is the true embodiment of human nature and the wild. Humans undergo change as all humans grow up they nature seems to change; the environment someone grows up in effects that person's nature. In the story, Sergeant Morris was so evil that he already knew the consequences of the monkey paw, but he still decided to give the monkey paw to the white family and break their happy family. This both let Sergeant Morris get into darkness of him and also impact the White family hugely. The monkey paw uses the advantages of the weakness of humans, with the lie of Sergeant, suddenly, Mr. White believes it. The monkey's paw will get you your wish, but the consequence was to lose your loved one and kill it. It's human nature to strive for your dream but a little bit of giving could make you feel serene. Human nature is just one of the many factors that influence who we become, yet it is profoundly important.

Although we cannot predict the direction of our fate, we can choose how to face and accept it. Fate may sometimes seem full of unfairness and tricks, but it is these challenges that shape our character and our lives. In the story, there wasn’t really “fate”, but the fate already shapes when the white family was curious about the monkey paw and decided to make decisions that they tried to make wishes. Fate has complete control of our destiny. There is no such thing as fate. The decision was made by the white family, and the decision wasn’t made by “god”. It was actually Mr. White's problem is to believe the Sergeant and trust him. Mr. White easily believe Sergeant and make their family broken and eventually fracture. Sometimes it seems that fate likes to play tricks on people, but it is these unexpected turns that make our lives more colorful. We can’t change fate, but we can uses our hard work to change whatever we can change.

There's no such thing as a free lunch. Freebies often come with hidden costs; it's wise to look beyond the surface and consider the long-term implications. In the story, the white family believes in Sergent Morris. They thought that they have collected benefits, but in reality, they have been stuck in the trap of Sergeant Morris and let their peaceful family break. The white family didn’t think of the consequence of using the Monkey Paw, while just immediately using it. It makes them get their wish but lose their family. Getting a wish may not be worth our while, as he often carries more risk than his benefits. Nothing comes without a price; even the smallest gain requires some form of sacrifice and requires hard work to get it. The world doesn't owe you anything; everything you want has to be earned through hard work and perseverance.

In conclusion, Monkey Paw'' by W.W. Jacobs tells of the White family's dealings with a mysterious paw that grants three wishes, each with a fatal cost. Their wishes—for money, their son's revival, and his final peace—lead to tragedy, leaving them with unimaginable anguish. This shows the ugliest of humans and shows how a people can be so evil that it can actually kill people using something that looks like it was good and beneficial. Also, this book has three main theme; First, human nature is a complex blend of instincts, emotions, and rational thinking that shapes our behaviors, decisions, and interactions with the world; Second, although we cannot predict the direction of our fate, we can choose how to face and accept it; Third, there's no such thing as a free lunch. This book has life lessons that will be very important in the future and I really like this book.
