Critical Review of The Hound Of The Baskervilles

THE HOUND OF BASKERVILLES talks about a case in which Sherlock Holmes has to solve. Charles Baskerville died, suspected of a hound that killed him. Now people think that Henry Baskerville is the new target. Sherlock finds out that Stapleton was the owner of the hound who trained the dog to kill the Baskervilles. When they killed the hound, they discovered that Stapleton was actually named Rodger Baskerville who wanted to kill his siblings with a hound.

A lot of us can be greedy and selfish sometimes, but some other times, we can get things a little too far. When we get too greedy for money, we might even become a criminal and start robbing people. In the story, Selden was a criminal who would always steal things, but on the other hand, his sister and brother-in-law worked hard to earn money. Stapleton, or Rodger Baskerville, killed his siblings to get money but ended up failing in the end. When we are young, we might only be a little naughty sometimes, but when we grow older and get the liking of money, we might take a lot of risks to get that using the ‘shortcut’. We might lie in job interviews, blackmail others, or even rob people; but using that way, we would always end up in jail in the end. Human nature is just how most humans are: selfish and sometimes greedy, but it only spreads a tiny bit in our hearts, and we have to be the ones that can overcome it and protect ourselves from these high risks. It is a lot easier to be bad than to be good, but we must always try our best in order to avoid the risks.

Supernatural can occur in godith literature novels, fictional stories, mystery books and tons of others, including fairies and angels and demons. Supernature is a world where anything can come true: whether it’s a genie in a lamp who would grant wishes or a demon crawling out of someone’s television set. In the HOUND OF BASKERVILLES, the story of Hugo Baskerville and the giant, horrifying hound seemed supernatural enough to convince Dr. Mortimer and Henry Baskerville to ask Sherlock Holmes about it. Sure enough, they found out it was just a criminal trying to fool everyone with his extra-creepy hound. The word ‘supernatural’ comes from Latin: ‘super’ meaning above or beyond of, while ‘natural’ just means nature. As ‘supernatural’ means beyond the laws of nature, godith literature could mean something different. Half of godith literature includes the world of ‘supernature’, but every fictional thing that happens could be very terrifying; like demons and zombies and mad scientists who locked people in cages. Supernature is a world full of fictional plots, characters, and settings, and could be included in godith novels, fictional stories, and mystery books.

Female status is when females are being compared to the men’s status, and contrasting the difference between them. Sometimes, men might have a lot more strength and bravery than women; while other times, women might be the least suspected in crime. In the story, it was mostly the men who took action, while the women just reported the situations. But no one suspected Laura Lyon, who was the woman who planned Charles Baskerville’s death and led him to the moor. Most times, during crime scenes, it was mostly the strong men who took the risk to start it, but sometimes, women can take advantage of that. Even though most women don’t have the strength to commit crime, their planning can be a lot stronger. They might sneakily ‘force’ the victim to go somewhere without their least notice and hire a big and strong man to actually do the thing. Even if it’s still the men who are suspected, women have no risks on just walking down the road with no one suspecting them, thinking that they couldn’t do anything about it. However, some very cunning ones might have a slight trick up their sleeves. The men might be the actual ones causing trouble, but the people who plan the crime scene are the ones who should be blamed the most on.

THE HOUND OF BASKERVILLES talks about a man named Stapleton, with his real name as ‘Rodger Baskervilles’ who tried murdering his two siblings to get all the money, but failed while trying to murder the second one. In this story, Dr. Mortimer had thought that the hound was supernatural, as in ‘beyond the natural laws of science’, which can include ghosts, demons, and fairies. The story also talks about human nature; humans might be greedy sometimes and try taking the ‘shortcut’ in getting, or robbing money. Female status can be very confusing; females seem less likely to commit a crime, and that’s correct, but they might also be the ones planning them.
