On April 2, 1931, an exhibition baseball game was held between a legendary team with many famous players and a small team with a pitcher being a woman named Jackie Mitchell. At the time, women weren’t allowed to play baseball, but when Jackie was a girl, she would practice every day even though the boys and girls told her girls couldn't play ball. At first, the audience didn’t think Jakie was going to win because she was a woman, but Jackie proved to everyone that girls could play baseball by winning the game.
We should always believe in ourselves. Believing in ourselves is important because it helps us to achieve goals if we work hard and never give up Even though the boys would tell Jakie that Girls weren’t allowed to play baseball, she believed in herself and when she was in the baseball game, she showed everyone that as long as we believe in ourselves, we can achieve anything. In the future, if we all believe, everything will be possible for us since believing is going to be the key for all possibilities. If we believe, we will achieve.
Girls can do the same things as boys. Girls and boys are the same since they are both as smart and strong as each other. When Jakie was a little girl she would practice everyday, and even though girls couldn't play at that time. She also showed the fact girls are as capable and as powerful as boys by winning in the major league game. A person’s capability is not decided based on if it's a girl or a boy, anyone can be clever and capable as long as they try. We should not judge anyone based on their genders.
Females deserve equal opportunities. Females should have equal rights with men because of fairness. At the time, when Jakie won the major league baseball, women weren’t allowed to play baseball. And this is not the only thing, for example women weren’t allowed to run marathons till 1967 and weren’t allowed in voting till 1960s. Females should be treated equally because they have all the rights men have. Females deserved rights since they proved themselves as worthy as men.
In the story, Jakie Michell proved to us that we should always believe in ourselves since it helps us achieve any of our goals, girls are the same as boys for being equally as smart and as strong as them and females deserve equal opportunities.
