Can I Survive in the Rainforest? -Negative

Rainforests are forests characterized by a closed and continuous tree canopy, which is the uppermost layer of a rainforest made out of the leaves and branches of trees. Rainforests can also be classified as tropical rainforests or temperate rainforests. Rain forests are often near the equator, which makes the environment good for organisms to live. There may be many millions of species of plants, insects and microorganisms still undiscovered in tropical rainforests. Tropical rainforests have been called the "jewels of the Earth" and the "world's largest pharmacy", because over one quarter of natural medicines have been discovered there. However, rainforests as well as endemic rainforest species are rapidly disappearing due to deforestation, the resulting habitat loss and pollution of the atmosphere. In my opinion, I don’t think I can survive alone in a rainforest.

Firstly, there is no food, water, or other crucial resources. 70% of the human body is water. This means that water is extremely important. If we don’t drink water for a long time, we will get dizzy, faint and die. Same for food. We need to eat three times a day to have enough energy for our organs and muscles. Lack of energy may also cause death. Even if there are many natural resources, I wouldn’t know what to do except for building a shelter. If I have ideas, I still don’t have tools to shape them to the size I want. The water in rainforests are from streams or rivers that may be dirty and have bacteria in it. The food in rainforests (like meat) isn’t cooked. There are only fruits and vegetables. If we don’t have meat, then we will lack protein. Food and water are extremely essential everywhere.

Secondly, there is no shelter to protect me from dangers in the rainforest. After I find clean water and food sources, the next important step is having a place to stay and protect me from danger, temperature, and weather. As we all know, life is the most important thing ever. Without life, we can’t do anything; we are not alive. Danger can be ferocious beasts or animals like jaguars, green anacondas, and even bullet ants. The jaguar is a top predator who has powerful jaws and sharp claws. This big cat can take down prey much larger than itself. Danger is also in water. Piranhas are a small fish which has razor sharp teeth. Temperature is also very humid in rainforest zones. As mentioned before, rainforests are near the equator. The equator receives direct sunlight. This steady flow of radiation produces consistently high temperatures throughout the year. The temperature may also bring annoying mosquitoes. Natural disasters like hurricanes, drought, flooding, landslides, and wildfires can also be a danger.

Lastly, being alone in a rainforest can also make me miss life. Time spent alone and feeling lonely can lead to depression and stress. In fact, studies now show that a lonely brain is structurally and biochemically different. My life before I lived in a rainforest is wonderful. I can go to school everyday to chat and play with my friends. I also had many hobbies that I was very concentrated on.  Now in the rainforest, the days are extremely dull as I didn’t learn anything. The most important thing is that I miss everyone and everything. This includes my family members, teachers, and best friends. This may cause my speed to decrease when doing things in the rainforest and makes it hard to survive.

In conclusion, rainforests, also known as tropical rainforests, are near the equator. The temperature there is always hot and humid. Rainforests have millions of plants, animals, and other microorganisms living there. It has been known as the “World's largest pharmacy” as it contains various types of plants that can be used to make medicine. Even though rainforests have a good habitat, I don’t think I can survive alone in a rainforest. First, there is a lack of resources (food, water, tools). Second, there is no protection for danger. Last but not least, missing life before.
