The definition of camouflage is basically to be able to blend within the surroundings of nature. For example, a tiger can easily blend in the wild with its stripy back. That is called camouflage since it's hard to reappear when the tiger hides in bushes. On the other hand, mimicry is when living organisms can transform or look physically like another plant or animal. They often use this strategy to escape their predators and live longer. Both abilities are very similar and are very useful because they can give you a higher chance of surviving. If I were to be an animal and choose to have one of these abilities, I would choose camouflage since in my opinion, camouflage gives you a higher opportunity to blend into the wild.
Camouflage is often used by animals like, for example, arctic hares can easily blend in the snow and disappear making it hard for their predators to catch them. Goldenrod crab spiders can easily blend in the sand and are very hard to catch.Green sea turtles can easily hide in the sand and in the sea water because wherever it goes it will look like a pile of sand and is really hard to find. Stick insects are very unique in the wild since they look like a bunch of branches and can easily blend in the wild since there are lots of trees in different sizes. Stone flinders can easily blend in the ocean and water since they look just like rocks.
Mimicry is very useful, for example the owl butterfly looks very much like an owl and can easily blend in in nature helping it to increase possibilities in surviving. The mimic octopus can easily blend in nature since it could mimic many types of dangerous fish, even the sea snake. Cuckoo Bird is another very clever spice as it can mimic a chic which is somehow useful since it can get free food. Cuttlefish is a very lucky type of spice and can camouflage themselves very well in the ocean as it can mimic other plants and rocks. Hawk Moth Caterpillars can mimic themselves into leaves which is also very helpful in many ways.
If I could choose, I would like to have the capability of being able to camouflage. Firstly, camouflage can protect you from predators since it's very realistic unlike mimicry. Like for example the arctic fox can blend in the snow this is more useful than ever since predators wouldn’t be able to tell where it went since there is so much snow in Antarctica because of its insanely cold temperature. This would prevent a lot of animals from eating me and the possibility of survival increases by a lot since if you can’t see where your prey is you won’t be able to hunt it which is very logical and technical.
Camouflage is more useful than mimicry since you can do more stuff, like for example, you can steal food and get stuff for free. But if you use mimicry you would still be caught taking food from other animals and might end up losing your life which is way too risky and way too unworthy. But camouflage can be easier since right after you take other animals' prey you don’t have to run since you wouldn’t need to as you are nearly invisible to the other animals thanks to your surroundings. This is one of the biggest reasons why camouflage is better than mimicry.
If I had the ability to camouflage, not only would I be able to win in every hide and seek but, I would also be able to catch my prey easier. The reason behind this is actually very simple. It is that my prey or target wouldn’t be able to see me. This would be very beneficial since I would not starve to death in the first place and I would have a big advantage in doing so which is a win win not to the animals but to me. This is one of my strongest reasons since food and water is very important as they are necessary if you want to live.
In order to start protecting animals before they go extinct, humans can help out by first, not cutting down as many trees. For example, in the past many animals went extinct because they no longer have shelters to live in which is very sad since it impacts the world a lot. But if we stop cutting so many trees every year, There would be more possibilities for humans to survive and live peacefully. It would let the earth slowly recover little by little and more animal reproduction would be created.
