Book Review of Wolf Wolf

The fable Wolf Wolf written by John Rocco is about an old wolf who has a garden but weeds keep on sprouting. He goes to a boy calling wolf. The boy says wolf twice and villagers come to him. After, when the boy calls wolf for one final time, the wolf comes and the villagers don’t. Then, the boy ties a goat to the wolf's garden because they had made a deal so the villagers would trust the boy. When the wolf comes back to his garden he sees his vegetables are growing because the goat ate all the weeds. The wolf decides to not eat the goat. They live together for the rest of their lives.

Lying is never good for anyone, for you, or for everyone around you. The longer you keep the lie, the more lies you will need to cover it up. If someone finds out, they may threaten to tell someone if you don’t do what they say. When the boy lied to the villagers, it was only because he thought it was funny. After the third time when the wolf came the wolf proposed a deal and this deal included him lying more in order to get the villagers to trust him again. It seems easy to lie at the start for a self serving reason, but eventually, you will tell more lies to cover up your original lies and someone may use you because they know your secret.

A win-win situation happens when two parties make an agreement and both of them get a profit out of it. This will make both parties satisfied with the outcome and foster a healthy and productive relationship especially in the long run. When the wolf saw all the vegetables and realized the goat had eaten all the weeds, he must have realized he would get vegetables for the rest of his days if he kept the goat alive. This was a win-win for both parties because the goat and wolf both were pleased with the result. Also, the wolf put long term gain ahead of present interest. Everyone should try to make win-win situations because it helps everyone and makes them happy. It also affects the relationship of both parties positively in the long term.

Common sense is applied when people make judgements and to solve problems, which is based on people's belief and knowledge. Although Common sense is useful, it has a limit when tackling unknown situations where intelligence is useless. When the boy saw the wolf he used common sense to think that the wolf was a scary figure that could gulp down all his goats in the blink of an eye. So the boy was so surprised to hear that. This is why common sense has its limit and is often misled by a lack of information. If you collect more information then you will make more accurate decisions.

The fable Wolf Wolf written by John Rocco is intriguing because it tells a story that no one would expect to happen in real life. It Teaches us that lying is never good, because it leads to more and more lies which someone might use to threaten you. You should not always rely on common sense, when facing new information, common sense will reach its limit. You should try to create win-win situations by focusing on the needs and goals of all parties, consideration should be given to long term interest rather than short term interest, when the two have conflict.
