Book Review of Wolf

Character:

Wolf, pig, cow, and duck.

Setting:

Where: In a village, a farm, a school, a library and a bookshop.

Plot:

A wolf is inspired to read books by educated animals.

The story “Wolf!”, written by Becky Bloom, talks about a wolf being educated through books. A wolf was hungry and tired, so he went to the farm looking for food. But the wolf was very surprised to see a duck, a cow, and a pig reading books. The animals told him that this farm was for educated animals only. The wolf wanted to become an educated animal just like them so he went to school. He studies very hard. But when he went back to the farm and read a book, the duck said he was not good enough. He went to the library and read more books. But the pick said he still was not good enough on his reading style. He bought his own book and started practicing. At last, he got attention from the educated animals and they were amazed at the wolf’s reading. Now every animal in the farm admired the wolf and made friends with the wolf.

Education can change a person’s thoughts, attitude, and manner, even their appearance. With knowledge, a person will know what kind of behavior to interact with others and how to have a conversation with others. Before the wolf gets educated, he jumps over the fence and also has a scary face. But after he is educated, he rings the bell “ding dong”, and wears normal clothes which are a pair of red glasses and an orange vest. He looks gentle and knowledgeable. The wolf becomes polite with good manners because he gets educated through school, library, and books. This is the same for humans! When a person reads more books and receives more education from schools, he will know how to behave, what to say, in order to become a more civilized person. A person’s thought, action, and attitude can be transformed through education.

Good friends can encourage and motivate a person to learn and become better. Good friends act like a mirror to show the person’s weakness and push him to learn more. The wolf wants to surprise and scare the farm animals, but he is shocked by these animals because the cow, pig, and duck are all reading books. The pig tells the wolf that this farm is only for educated animals. This inspires the wolf to be educated too. The wolf wants to read books because he wants to become an educated animal like the cow, pig, and duck. When a person sees his friends are better than him, he might feel embarrassed at first but that is the exact reason for them to work harder. Under our friends' influence, a person’s learning can be triggered and triggered even more to become an exceptional learner.

Being persistent and never give up could help a person achieve his goal. When a person keeps practicing on what he is doing, even though others might laugh at him, he will become excellent at that thing. The wolf is first teased by all the farm animals because he doesn't know how to read. Next he is teased secondly by the duck because his book is way too simple. Then he is teased by the pig because there is no tone, feeling, or pause in his book reading. Even though each time he is being teased, he doesn’t give up. He works even harder than before so at last he knows a lot of knowledge and is really good at reading books. When a person is teased for his weakness, he should not run away or give up. Instead, he should fix the part that is not good, keep practicing, and study harder to improve himself. Because of his persistence and never giving up, the people around him admire his determination and his final work . Don’t give up on something you are not good at. Just keep practicing and one day you will succeed.

I like this book “Wolf!” because I was shocked by the wolf’s attitude and behaviors towards learning. The wolf is inspired by the educated animals who later becomes friends with the wolf. Even though the wolf is being teased by the educated animals, the wolf never gives up. Instead, he keeps practicing and takes suggestions from them. At the end, the wolf transformed himself into an educated animal, and everybody admires him. I recommend this book to students who don’t like to read books. After reading this book, they will begin to realize how important the education is and they might start to read.
