The story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz written by L. Frank Baum talks about a little girl named Dorothy and she lived with Aunt Em, Uncle Henry, and dog, Toto, on a farm on the Kansas prairie. It was then this one day, a tornado came in and blew away the house. They were transported into the magical land of Oz where witches and wizards lived. Problems happened and they fighted different witches. Then, the fallen house had hit the Wicked witch of the East. Then, the good witch of the north came and gave Dorothy a pair of yellowish silver shoes and said that she had to follow the way with the yellow bricks. It would lead her to the powerful great wizard of oz and he would help them get back.

One of the themes that I learned was that you should never say never to yourself. You need to have confidence if you want to get out of a problem. Always believe in yourself and never think about the negatives. Like in this story, Dorothy escaped because she had confidence in herself and knew she had to face problems if she wanted to stay alive. She knew she just had to face them sooner or later. Never say never to yourself because you should never think about the negatives. Only think about the positives.

When we compare two of the same thing but a bit different with the personalities, it could be called good vs evil. Good means that you have a kind heart and even if you look really evil, it's only your inside that counts. When you're bad, you could be dressed up as an innocent person but deep inside, only you know the truth. Good and evil could be hidden from each other. In this story, it wasn’t like that. It was that there were the good witches that helped people and the bad witches that destroyed people and hurt them. The good and bad  witches are against each other.

Friendship is important to us and all. Without friends by your side, you would be sad and lonely all the time. And only real friends make you feel comfortable. They help you to be happy and joyful. Friends also teach you things you don’t know but they do. Like for example in this story, Dorothy and the good witches were friends because they helped each other. Friends are for helping and tolerating. If you help me, I will help you. When we make a mistake, we teach each other. Friendship is an infinity sign because it's friends forever.

Families are just as important as friends. They also help you out and love you. Parents love you because you are a piece of their own bones. You came to this world because they wanted you. In this story, Dorothy saved her dog toto and even as a pet, it could be part of the family. They had a nice time together and they weren’t just going to let it go. They have already tamed each other and love each other. Even if it's just an animal, it could still be your family. It is your family pet that you adopted because you liked it. Families are the most important people around you.
