The story “The Strawberry girl” is written by Lois Lenski. It talks about the time of the early 1900s in Florida. The Boyers are newcomers from Martian county and they go to North Florida. Florida is also where the Slaters live. The Slaters are troublemakers and they always try to annoy the Boyers. The Boyers are planting strawberries and other fruits to make money, but the Slaters disturb them and say that plants cannot grow in Florida. The Boyers do take good care of their plants and they finally grow. The strawberries have been harvested and the Boyers sell some of the strawberries too. The Boyers have a good life while the Slaters suffer.

Education is powerful for learning skills that we are going to use to navigate our world. Education can be used to learn important skills that will come in handy in the future. We can get personal development, self-confidence, and a sense of purpose and these can help us discover our true passion. In the story, the Boyers have lots of education so they have their own skill. They all know how to plant strawberries and try new things while the Slaters don’t have education. The Slaters just think that they know everything but they don’t. Education is useful to have so having education is a great thing and in fact we should never stop learning.

Taking non advantage of education is terrible. Some people think that they know everything but they don’t so instead of trying to get more knowledge they just stay how they are, these people are not taking advantage of education. In the story the Slaters think that they are smart, but they are not. The Slaters like doing their own way of working. They work all wrong so that is why they don't make much money. They ditch education because they're just bored of it. The Boyers study well so they have a good business selling strawberries they grow. Sometimes some people are lazy or other times people are too poor to get an education. These are reasons why not to get education but some people do it on purpose. Some people think that they know what they are supposed to know so they don’t mind and dich education. Taking non advantage of education will spoil almost everything in our life.

Having the power of religion can give us a sense of meaning for life. Religion is a type of thought that we follow. Different types of faith can be different types of thought we follow. God punishing the people who misbehave is a type of religion people believe. It is ok we don’t believe in gods or anything, it is also a religion as long as we do good deeds. In the story, the Boyers have the power of religion so they do good things but the Slaters on the other hand are just the opposite. The Slaters are total troublemakers.  After we have the power of belief, there will be influences. The influences can change or affect our behavior, our society or how we interact with others. The affection of religions may all come out good but still it is unpredictable.

This is an interesting story that talks about the Boyers family who are trying to grow strawberries to sell but the Slater family do annoying things to the Boyers so the Boyers can’t grow the strawberries. Finally the Boyers did grow and sell the strawberries. This story is interesting because of how it is written but what is more than interesting is that it tells us lessons while there are strange words. The lessons are: first, Education is useful in many ways like for navigating our world. Second, having the benefit of having the power of religion is useful for us to reach the goal of being good. Third, if we don’t take full advantage of education, we cannot get new skills and useful things to learn that will help us later in life. These are truly great themes and this is surely a great story.
