The Story “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr, Hyde” written by Robert Louis Stevenson talks about Mr. Utterson. Mr. Utterson was a lawyer, and also loved Sunday walks, but one day while walking with a friend, he saw Dr. Jekyll, and his friend, mentions that he is a scientist, and loves doing experiments. As in the experiment of Mr. Hyde where Dr. Jekyll can transform into his bad side at times. His friend said that he had a special encounter with him, late at night he had seen him run over a girl, and went on. Utterson was confused by this too. So he had decided to go to his house, and see if he was there, when he got there he saw Poole the servant. Poole said that he was not there, so Utterson decided to guard the door to the laboratory, and then one day he saw Mr. Hyde enter. He then decided to go, and talk to him, and he asked if he could see his face, and Hyde was hesitant but showed it to him, and then quickly left. Utterson soon went to one of Jekyll’s dinner parties, with five or six more people. Then a year later, there was a murder, and it was from Mr. Hyde. When Mr. Utterson was informed by the police he tried to look for him, but was never to be seen by anyone else, later. Then one day while Utterson is at home, he hears from Poole that Dr. Jekyll was very sick, so he quickly went into his house. When he got there he then noticed that it was not Jekyll's voice but Hyde’s voice. So then in the cabinet he was in, they cut it open, and there before them was Hyde in Jekyll’s clothes. Utterson then read a letter from him, and he figured out how he could change into two forms, Hyde, and Jekyll.
Mr. Hyde was a mythological person, meaning that he cannot be real. He is made from science, which is like magic. He was created from one person, and there was a switch of good and evil, every so often. The whole story was supernaturalism meaning that everything is crazy, and that this would never happen in real life. For example, there is no way that science can change a person to be a different person, with some potion, which would be a really odd chance we can do that. We cannot also make one person a combination of evil, violent, and ugly person just like Hyde, and also make that same person smart, nice, and handsome like Jekyll too, and both of them switching back and forth. It would not be possible to do so, because of how magical and supernaturalist it would be. The same it would be with other novels, just like Frankenstein, who is from the dead, and came back to life, with a scientific thing. Frankenstein is also ugly and a murderer, just like Hyde is, because he was from the dead, and back to life. This is how Mr. Hyde is a supernaturalist person, who should not exist at all in our world.
Human nature is about the normal parts of people’s lives, we have different characteristics that make us human. But there are also some that are mental and not physical, like goodness and evil, how Dr. Jekyll is kind, perfect, and nice but on the other hand Mr. Hyde is part of evil and non perfect. They also do natural stuff, like Jekyll who goes in public, and have a lot of friends. While Hyde stays in a lot, and goes at night where there are not as many people there. There is also hatred and love, like how Hyde is hated by everyone, because of how cruel he is to everyone, while Jekyll is praised and loved by everyone because he is handsome and smart. Hyde’s nature is evil which is a big difference from Dr. Jekyll. People need to have self control, like Utterson, who stays calm throughout the story, no matter what happens. Jekyll runs away from self control with science, and decides to keep the medicine, which is crazy, and keeps taking the medicine, even though Hyde was being bad. This is how human nature is combined with the story, in this weird but magnificent story.
You have two personalities in your life, and they are the two options you must make, either be good like Dr. Jekyll, or be bad like Mr. Hyde. Dr. Jekyll though decided that he would have both sides of his personality, because of the hard decision, this comes to the result of making Mr. Hyde. At the start of the unknown experiment, Dr. Jekyll had pursued the unknowing ideas of science, and he experimented on himself. Once he had made the medicine for the effect, he decided to keep it, for he thought he could have had a further explanation of this, and how he split his personality. But at the end of the experiment, there was a side effect, because of how much he took the medicine. If he stopped, then he would still turn into Mr. Hyde, and had to kill himself for the bad of Mr. Hyde's doing. This is how Dr. Jekyll had made a good and bad side of himself, and how it backfired to him.
The story “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” talks about Mr. Utterson solving a case about Mr. Hyde, who is Dr. Jekyll but his dark side. Dr. Jekyll somehow made a potion to make two personalities of him, a bad side, and a good side. In the story Hyde was super natural, because he would not be real in real life, but he was more of a science creation, by Dr. Jekyll, who was the mean side of him. Human nature though was still in the story, like how there is goodness versus evil, where everyone likes Jekyll, but everyone hates Hyde. Making decisions is hard, when one part of your body is telling you to do a bad thing, but the other part says no, don't do it. Jekyll had somehow split his personality, so he does not have to worry about it, but there are many consequences. This story is weird yet shows the extreme qualities of people.
