I recently read a book called The Little Prince, written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The story is about the little prince who left his planet and had a journey to the other planets. He met the king, the conceited man, tippler , business man, lamplighter and the geographer. Then the little prince visited the Earth. Where he met the pilot in the Sahara Desert. Soon, they became good friends but the prince still chose to go back to his planet even though he was bitten by a poisonous snake. During his adventures on other planets , I’m very impressed by some “strange” Characters very much. They’re very ridiculous and hard to understand. The most ridiculous character that comes to my mind is the king.
He thought all men are subjects, whether he knew them or not. He even ordered the little prince to yawn but I don’t think orders should be like this. Yawns are people’s own physiologic reaction when they are sleepy and tired. It happened not because of the king’s order. The king cheated himself that everything followed his order.
He liked to be a powerful man but actually he didn’t have any power to control others.
The kings always talked about some words, order, obey and authority. The king didn’t control anything but he kept on boasting that he could rule over everything in the universe. When the little prince asked the king to order the sun to set,he replied that they had to wait until evening, the time of sun-set.
In the end of the story, the king really wanted the little prince to stay with him since he's the only person on the planet and he must be very lonely. And he really wanted someone to obey his orders. But the king didn’t know how to make the little prince stay. The king only said : “ I will make you a Minister. “ or “ I make you my ambassador. “ Little prince only felt that “ the grow ups are very strange”
The kings like to be a power man but he didn’t have any power , he was just boasting and cheating. He wanted someone to follow his order but there’s no one living on his planet. He wanted the little prince to stay with him but the little prince left very quickly. He is a ridiculous person. He is also a pitiable person.
