The book “The Hundred Dresses” is written by Eleanor Estes, it talks about a girl named Peggy almost always teases Wanda every time she gets because Wanda she insisted she had a hundred dresses, and Peggy's sidekick, Maddie, Wanda friend joins the teasing and all of nonsense to avoid getting teased. Only after Wanda creates 100 beautiful pictures of dresses, Peggy and Maddie are amazed but it is too late to say sorry, because Wanda moved away. Peggy and Maddie realize how they've hurt her, and they try to make amends. They mailed Wanda a letter and about half a year went by, they got a response.
Poverty lies among many people and discrimination starts there when a poor person gets teased. Poverty gets teased because they are different and all the teasing means we do not belong there with the people so they make fun of poverty. In the story, the discrimination is about how Wanda is a polish-American and not because of the skin color but that she is poor and does not have a lot of money. Poverty means poor and poor ones will get teased, the person who is poor will feel bad being different and can’t afford certain things but the teasing means that we don't want them here and that teasing is a sign of discrimination. Discrimination contains many types, but the best we can do is stop teasing.
Empathy is considered great because it allows us to understand and share the feelings of others, which can help build stronger relationships. Empathy can help build trust like how friends do, and enables us to connect with people on an agreeable emotional level, leading to better communication, trust, and teamwork. In the story, Maddie and Peggy tease Wanda. Maddie only teases her because she doesn't want to get teased. Maddie has some empathy while Peggy doesn't. Because of Maddie’s empathy, she wants to stop the teasing because she feels bad. Empathy can help us understand others and help others when they feel our “power”. Empathy helps us see things or other people from another person's perspective and respond and help with gentle care and support.

This is a thoughtful story that tells about a girl who is teased by her classmates. This girl is Wanda who always claims to have one hundred dresses. Her classmates always make fun of her and tease her. But like she claims she in fact has a hundred dresses but that she always comes to school wearing the same dress. First things happen, people may deal with poverty but teasing about it is wrong and also called discrimination. Second, Empathy is important, it can help make friendships and help us and others feel better. Third, growing is a part of life. You will make mistakes and choices but you will learn from it and you are growing when you learn. This is an extremely excellent story that is very worth reading.
