This is a children's book beloved Newbery Medal–winning and written by Patricia. It talks about the Witting family. two children who lived with their father who lost his wife. The father separately needed a wife, so he put an ad in the newspaper. The lady's name was Sarah applied, and She came from Maine and she was "Plain and Tall." Sarah is smart and works hard, they have a lot of happy times, they swim, learn to ride horses, and drive wagons……finally this family like Sarah, and Sarah also will marry to Papa soon.
Firstly, loneliness is a normal emotion that everyone will experience generally. Loneliness is not a psychological problem. In this story, at the beginning everyone is lonely, Sarah is a new member who comes to a new family without a friend. Papa loses his wife and he doesn’t even sing any more. Anna and Caleb lose their mom, they can’t say “good night” to mom and can’t enjoy mother love anymore. We should keep a positive understanding and concentrate when facing loneliness. I like running and eating crisps and chocolates when I am lonely. Sometimes I also prefer talking with my parents about this uncomfortable feeling. This is a good way to release my pressures well.
Secondly, home is where the heart is. Home is a warm place where a family lives together.A warm home always provides people feel safe and belong. In the book, at last, Sarah is no longer lonely, because she has joined a new home and her heart loves her children and animals. Although some people have family members, they don't have a warm home in their hearts. Home is not just a house for living, instead a group of families live and love each other.
Thirdly, the change of family has affected a person’s life. Some family changes are beyond our control. I saw one of my friend’s parents divorced. Some parents lose money since they failed to invest in business, so they had to leave their current school to a free local school. Even the death of my dearest grandfather. In this story, two kids without mommy, Sarah’s brother, will marry soon. When the family changes, there is something we can't control, but our life should still move on. We must try our best to cheer up.
This is an excellent story. I like it because of the warm care and understanding between Sarah and Anna’s family. And I like Sarah is a great character with a smart, brave and kind personality with a happy ending. And loneliness is a common emotion, we could conquer this situation. Home is different from family. Home is where the heart is. family has changed when we meet, we have positive face it and keep on life. I would positively recommend this book to all the people who are interested in a heartwarming story.
