O'Brien's engaging storytelling and memorable characters continue to inspire readers, inviting reflection on the transformative power of loyalty and the importance of standing up for what one believes in. "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" remains a beloved classic, enchanting readers of all ages with its captivating narrative, rich themes, unforgettable characters, and enduring message of resilience.

The theme of virtue highlights the significance of moral excellence and its profound impact on personal growth, ethical decision-making, and the betterment of society. Our virtuousness defines our person and morality to a great extent. Throughout the novel, the characters embody various virtues, such as selflessness, resilience, and curiosity, which have a profound impact on their personal growth and the world around them. Mrs. Frisby serves as a beacon of selflessness, demonstrating unwavering dedication to her family and inspiring readers to prioritize the well-being of others. The rats, through their escape from NIMH and their alliance with Mrs. Frisby, showcase resilience as they face numerous challenges and strive for freedom. Additionally, the characters' quest for knowledge and understanding highlights the virtue of curiosity, emphasizing the importance of intellectual growth and the pursuit of truth. By exploring these virtues, the novel prompts readers to reflect on the power of moral excellence in shaping individual character and fostering a better society. Virtue must not be taken lightly as our morals affect our lives more positively than material benefits.

The theme of human cruelty delves into the unsettling reality of unkindness, violence, and indifference that can permeate society. Excess power results in greed, which can stir up anger from lower classes, eventually boiling into outright cruelty. In the story, the rats' mistreatment by the scientists at NIMH serves as an unforgettable example of the darker side of human nature and the potential for harm and exploitation. However, the mistreated rats managed to escape their troubles and torture, fostering a more humane and improved society in their own little world. By examining these narratives, we are compelled to confront our own capacity for cruelty and reflect on the importance of empathy, compassion, and social change. It serves as a poignant reminder that by actively opposing cruelty and promoting understanding and kindness, we can strive to build a more just world where the inherent dignity of all individuals is respected.

Loyalty and devotion will result in great rewards. As long as we satisfy God, he will support us through even the most desperate times. In the story, Ms Frisby was a widowed mother of four children. In this situation, many would just give up, but not Ms Frisby. She was willing to face the challenges that confronted her until the very end. However, no matter what Ms Frisby did, she could not prevent the plowing of the land her family lived on. God was pleased with her loyalty towards her children, so He came to help out. Ms Frisby was able to find a group of rats hiding in a nearby rosebush who were kind enough to take her in for the moment. Ms Frisby saved her family from being homeless through her own actions. As long as we take care of our soul and beautify it, God will aid us whenever we need His help.

Ms Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is an inspirational story about a widowed mouse named Ms Frisby. She raises 4 children all by herself, and plowing time is coming, which would force the family off their home. Unfortunately, Timothy, one of the mice, is seriously ill and cannot move. Ms Frisby is not alone though, and seeks help from her former husband’s friends, including a group of rats with much intellect. From this novel, we can derive three themes. First, our virtue plays a key role in determining our fate, as God always wants a clean heart. Second, cruelty often results from greed and opposition. Finally, eternal loyalty and devotion is what truly completes a pure soul.
