The book HEIDI is about an orphaned girl (named Heidi) raised by her aunt Deta and her grandmother after the deaths of her parents. Deta took Heidi, who was only 5 years old, to her paternal grandfather's house in the Alp mountains when her grandmother died. Soon, Heidi was already friends with her new neighbors, and she was living a happy and healthy life in the Alp mountains. Three years later, Deta took Heidi to a city so she could get some education and city experience. Heidi was homesick while she lived in the miserable city. A kind doctor returned her to the Alps and Heidi was happy again.
Being cheerful and hopeful will help us get through our difficulties. Heidi was an unfortunate girl. Her parents died when she was only a baby. As time passed, caregivers came and went, she had an unstable childhood before she finally lived with her grandfather. However, her optimistic and hopeful nature made her face the changes with welcoming arms. When she moved to the Alps, she enthusiastically befriended her new neighbors, Peter, his mother and his blind grandmother. Being positive and optimistic like Heidi would help us get through unfortunate events or difficulties in life.
Confidence plays a crucial role in children’s development. Heidi’s friend, Peter couldn’t read because he was always telling himself, “Reading is too hard for me, I couldn’t do it.” Therefore, he had not been able to read until Heidi threatened him. Telling ourselves negative things would cause us never being able to do what we want to do. In other words, telling ourselves positive things can help us achieve our goals. Later in the story, Peter learned how to read because he stopped telling himself that he couldn’t read.
Mother nature has a magic power that could heal desolate and unhappy people. Three years after Heidi settled down in the Alps, her aunt returned to take Heidi back to the city to get some education. But soon, she became terribly homesick for the Alps. She missed the pure fresh air in the mountains and fir trees that whistled in the wind. Not before long, she started sleepwalking and opened the door to wander outside. A family doctor recommended that she should go back to the mountains, which she did. Heidi was a joyful girl again. Nature’s beautiful scene could heal depressed or unhappy people. Klara, Heidi’s friend, learned how to walk when visiting the mountains with the warm sunshine and delicious goat milk’s help. Though living in the city can be very convenient, mother nature has a magic power that could help cure the invalids.
Being optimistic could help us get through difficulties. Confidence plays an important role in our development. Mother nature’s beauty could heal miserable people. The book HEIDI is very interesting and inspiring even though it is a little long. This book is perfect for people who like realistic fiction.
