The story “freedom on the menu” talks about how before, black people couldn't go to certain places. They can’t sit in the restaurant and there are signs that tell them where they can and can’t go. Connie and her mother can’t even sit at the lunch counter! black people think that it is not fair, so they came up with a group called the sit-ins. They sit at the lunch counter for four hours! But the white people still don’t even serve them, and they don’t even let them pay! Then, more and more people join the sit-ins. The sit-ins are everywhere now. Even through that Connie’s sister had been caught in jail for doing that. But at last, they finally have their own rights!
The white people don’t want the black people to be the same as them because they think that black people’s body color is black, and they are very poor. The whites think that they are stronger and richer and more powerful than the black people. It is like that some black people are poor when they are born. They can’t choose to be rich. And they are black when they are born. The white people are too potent. The white people are doing a very bad thing called the racial discrimination. They won’t see how the black people feel. They just do whatever they want.
The black people think that they need to have the same rights as the white people, so they came up with different groups to “fight” against the white people. They have doctors to help them, and they did different things that surprised a lot of people. They did speeches, they collected a lot of black people together and they did a lot of things that will make the white people feel not very good. Finally, the own back their rights and the white people finally start to respect them. The white waiters start to serve black people, the white only places finally start having black people.
I think that everyone needs to have their own right, and everyone is equal. We are all humans, right? If we are all humans, we are all the same. Why white people are more important than bad people. I think that the things that happened in history are very bad. Some white people make black people their servants. That is not very fair to black people. Why are they born to be servants and white people are born to be rich? The black people can’t even choose how they want to live their life. They just keep having to help others to do their things without any reward.
In conclusion, I think that white people should not have racial discrimination to black people because everyone is equal. No one should think that they are more important and more powerful than other people. The black people know that the white people are “hurting” them a lot. So, they did a lot of things that hurt white people a lot as a reward for them. Also, when we see people hurting us and think that they are better than us, we should also “fight” back. Finally, the most important thing is that everyone has their own rights. Everyone's the same. WE should not think that we are stronger than others.
