The story “A Wrinkle In Time” written by Madeleine L’Engle talks about a 13-year-old girl named Meg trying to find Mr. Murry, her father, with Charles and Calvin. At first, Meg is a scared girl who has negative thoughts about herself. She has troubles at school because of her poor grade and her teacher dislikes her. Meg fights against the boy who calls Charles “dumb baby brother”. Meg’s dad disappears when she is little. She misses her dad and wants to find him. One day, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which visits her and tells her where her father is and how to save him. Meg then begins the journey with Charles and Clavin from planet to planet to find and rescue her dad. When they travel to Camazotz, everyone is controlled by IT and her father is trapped there. Meg rescues her father but Charles is controlled by IT, a dark evil brain. Meg defeats IT with enormous courage to save Charles. Finally, they return home and the family is happy.

Family love is unconditional no matter what kind of person he is or no matter what happens. Family members will support each other, protect someone from getting harm, and care about each other when they are emotionally down. Even though dad is away, not with Meg, she still loves and misses him. After dad left, the family became even closer to each other. When the boy calls Charles a “dumb baby brother”, Meg fights with him. Because dad is not with Meg and her family, Meg acts like a big sister to protect her little brother, Charles when he is laughed at by the boy. People will not let others hurt their family members. They will do whatever they can to protect their family members even though they might get hurt, too. Among all the loves, the love of family is the most valuable.

Being unique is not a problem as long as a person can understand and appreciate his uniqueness. Sometimes a person wants to be the same as others because he wants to be accepted but this is not his true self. 13-year-old Meg has mouse-brown hair, wears a pair of black glasses, and braces on her teeth. Meg attacks boys. Her teacher thinks she is a poor student. Meg thinks herself is a monster. She wants to be the same as others. Later when Meg goes to planet Camazotz where everything is the same, she begins to realize that she needs to remain true to herself in order to defeat IT. Meg has trouble accepting herself. She has a negative self-image. She wishes that she can be like everybody else. But it is important to be an individual, not a follower. Everyone is different so there is no reason to be the same as everybody else. Maybe his uniqueness is the key to reach his goal. A person needs to learn to accept himself, the way that he talks or acts, not to follow others.

A person needs to be brave and show courage to fight against evil, even though a person is afraid of evil. Courage is a powerful strength that can push a person to go further and endure fear, even in a dangerous or difficult situation. Meg is asked to go alone onto Camazotz, through the dark thing, to fight evil IT in order to save Charles. Meg’s father and Calvin tell her not to go, but Meg is very courageous and isn’t scared anymore. Meg realizes that she is the only one who can save Charles from IT. “That has to be me, It can’t be anyone else!” At first, Meg is a scared person. She holds Calvin’s hand during the journey. But Meg has courage to tesser back to Camazotz to save Charles from evil IT. This courage is not a hero type of courage. This courage is based on Meg’s love for Charles. When Meg is fighting IT, her bravery increases and becomes even more courageous, which leads her to save Charles. It is important for a person to have courage and bravery at the things he is doing in order to get out of the difficult situation.

A Wrinkle in Time” is very adventurous because Meg goes through a lot of events that she never sees before. When reading this book, I feel like I am Meg in the adventure. At the same time, the book teaches me the importance of being unique, having courage, and family love. Everyone wants to be accepted but that doesn’t mean he should have the same action, thinking, or tone as others. He needs to be true to himself. Maybe being unique is the key to stand out among all the people. But sometimes there is some problem of being unique. So, he needs to have courage to defeat the evil words, actions, and attitude from others. But no matter what, family love will always back him up and give him support and care. I would recommend this book for 7-year-old and up kids who like to take adventures. After reading one chapter, one cannot predict what is going to happen in the next chapter which makes the reader want to read more. Each chapter includes a lot of dialogue, which very engages the readers.
