An artificial intelligent assistant is a virtual assistant that completes tasks for the user and is simulated so it takes the place of a human at a certain task. As modern day technology is advancing, the use of AI is becoming more and more common/frequent. Many examples of AI include Siri, Google, Alexa, Cortana, Chatbots, Autocorrect, Maps/Navigation, Face ID/detection, and much more. All of these demonstrate the advanced technology in our society and how an AI works. Some AI’s are online that are stimulated to help users with navigating the online world. This can include Google, autocorrect, and google translate. Other AI’s work by voice to voice connection, such as Alexa. Other AI’s are already taking over human work, such as self-driven cars and automatic cashiers. Due to this, I believe that with time, AI’s will eventually replace man labor in the future. With a long history, AI’s still stand strong today helping us complete many of our daily tasks.
Artificial intelligent assistance is already taking away many of the jobs that we humans can do and are doing them better and faster. Some jobs in this world are more vulnerable to AI’s than other jobs. Many stores these days, such as Target and Costco have enforced self checkout machines. With these AI checkout machines, many cashiers are forced to resign as they are no longer needed in their position. Another example includes bank tellers and clerks. Nowadays, the streets are filled with ATMs where people can retrieve money from their bank account quickly and efficiently. However, this also means there is less need for bank tellers and clerks to help customers. Many warehouse workers are also forced to resign from their jobs as their jobs are being taken over by machines that can carry heavier items and work at a faster pace. Many jobs that require physical labor are being replaced by AI. This is because these jobs are easier to complete with machines and AI’s. Artificial intelligent assistants are impacting our world a lot as it is replacing many jobs a human can do.
Science analytics and statistics show that AI assistants are rising in the community and will continue progressing as time goes on. Many studies show the progress of AI assistants and their growth throughout the years. Since the early 2000s, many robots and AI assistants have phased out many man labor jobs. In the early 2000s, 1.7 million jobs were eliminated due to the introduction of AI assistants. A report published by the World Economic Forum, it is predicted that 50% of the jobs we have now will be replaced by AI in 2025. Currently 29% of the jobs in the world are occupied by AI. The artificial intelligence market is expected to grow at 38.1% from 2022-2030. This insanely big growth of AI usage is really huge and can impact the economy as AI will soon be taking over many jobs. Though the impact of AI may not be seen now, statistics have proven the impact of AI on the modern world and how it continues to rise day after day.
AI has a long history that dates back to the 1960s and even then, AI’s were already taking over human jobs. Voice response technology similar to Siri and Alexa have been around since the 1960s. Everything took a step up in 2011 when Apple introduced Siri, an automatic voice response that works on phones. In 2012, Google Now was introduced and later in 2016, Google Assistant showed up and took its place. And in 2013, the world was introduced to Cortana by Miscroft and it was activated in 2015, though no longer supported by iOS and Android. And finally, Amazon’s Alexa came in 2014 and was advanced to the point that the user could give it commands such as turn off the lights. All of these AI assistants have a long history with a solid background which proves that they will stay with us for much longer. The history of AI not only proves how long they’ve been but how long they’ve helped humans and completed daily tasks.
AI technology and assistance in many ways have impacted the human world in many different ways. Through the boost of technology, AI is now able to be seen in everyday life. Perhaps you just used it when you asked Siri to tell you the weather conditions or if you used the self-checkout booth at Target. Perhaps even riding in a self-driven car. AI technology has taken a stand in the world and economy. By no means, in the future, it shall take the place of many man labor jobs. Though some may argue that AI technology is not yet strong enough to operate human jobs, through the course of approximately 60 years, it has proven to us that AI technology is capable of much more and can operate on its own. AI technology and assistance is slowly becoming a crucial part of our lives as it is taking over many human jobs.
