Today is Dragon Boat Festival. My grandma makes Zongzi. The very first step to
make Zongzi is to soak the reed leaves, sticky rice and the red beans. My grandma
does it the night before. Then she drains the sticky rice, puts it with the red beans and
stirs them. She picks two reed leaves with the smooth side facing up. She cuts off the
hard part of the top of reed leaves, folds them to form a cone. Then she puts rice in it
and adds a date in each Zongzi. She presses it firmly and wraps it tightly with a rope.
I personally like sweet Zongzi. Firstly, I have a sweet tooth. I’m crazy about anything
that is sweet. Secondly, it’s pretty. When I unwrap it, I can see snow white sticky rice
dotted with red beans. It makes me mouthwatering. Last but not the least, sweet
Zongzi is yummy. It has a special aroma. I love the flavor very much. That’s why I
like sweet Zongzi better.
