About Zong Zi

Zongzi is a traditional food of the Dragon Boat Festival in China. My grandma always makes ZongZi at Dragon Boat Festival every year for us. Before the Dragon Boat Festival, my grandma would buy fresh Zong zi leaves, sticky rice, red dates, beans, peanuts, and raisins. She washes them and soaks them in water overnight. The next day, my grandma began to make Zong Zi. She selects two or three Zong Zi leaves, folds them into a funnel, puts a red date to avoid rice out, and then puts sticky rice, beans, peanuts, and raisins in it. Last, wrap it and tie it up with cotton thread. After boiling for 3 hours, we can eat the delicious Zong Zi.

ZongZi usually have two tastes, sweet ZongZi with bean or date and salty ZongZi with meat or yolk. I personally like sweet Zong Zi. Firstly, I like red dates. Especially when sweet red dates mix with sticky rice, I always think of happy times with Dad and Mom. Secondly, I like beans. Last but not least, I like sweet food because sweet food brings happiness to me. That's why I like sweet Zong Zi better.
