Ebenezer Scrooge is a character from The Christmas Carol. The book describes how Scrooge changes from a cold person who doesn’t appreciate Christmas into a warm person, who does appreciate Christmas. Scrooge has a partner named Marley, who died, but had the same personality as Scrooge still does. He is cold, and thinks everything or everybody that interacts or talks to him is annoying and terrible. He thinks celebrations are humbug and fake, and so does Marley. Scrooge was described in the story as a “cold, old man”, and he was disliked by everybody until the spirits came and changed his mind about Christmas and any other celebration. Scrooge is a cold person who changed at the end of The Christmas Carol.
Scrooge is a person who only cares about his business, which adds to his coldness and his lack of wanting to communicate with others. He shows that he only cares about money, and nothing else through his actions. He doesn’t do things that will not promote the business. In the story, it shows that Scrooge didn’t bother to paint out Marley’s name, although he was dead. This shows that he thinks that it would affect the business if a name on the warehouse was gone. People who only care about the business have bad values, since they only want money. They do not get any other benefit from the business except for money. This is bad because a business is not only to get money, but also to enjoy. Scrooge should have painted on the name, since Marley was gone and didn’t need to have his name on the warehouse door anymore. Scrooge’s action of leaving Marley’s name on the door showed that he only cared about money, and not anybody else’s or his own feelings at all.
Scrooge’s appearance matches with his personality, since he is cold and mean, and his appearance is also similar to that. Scrooge has a very ugly appearance. The passage describes his appearance as having a nipped nose, thin face, and a wiry chin. Scrooge’s personality is described as very solitary, short-tempered, hard as rock, and unchangeable. His appearance is ugly along with personality, and he affects people around him. He carries the coldness wherever he goes, and spreads it to everybody around him. A person’s appearance can change based on their personality. If somebody has a good personality, that can look pretty and not ugly. It would be because of the person’s cold attributes and attitude that their appearance can change. They can become uglier, since they are always mad and not wanting to communicate and talk happily to others. A person’s appearance can be related to their personality.
Scrooge changes a lot from the start of the story to the end, since his personality and ideas change for the better. Scrooge, at first, was very mean, and didn’t want anything unrelated to his business. He changed into a warm person who actually cares about others. Scrooge, at the start, didn’t even care what name he was called. He was very dedicated to his business, and only his business. At the end, Scrooge cares about others, and even gifts a turkey for Thanksgiving. People who have experience can change easily. People who also have somebody to help guide them and teach them what is right can also change easily, while people who don’t even want to change will not change for the better. Scrooge has changed a lot throughout the entire course of the novel.
Scrooge is a cold person who only cares about the business itself and nothing else, not even the names on the warehouse. His actions show a lot of his cold personality, and so does his appearance. Although Scrooge does change into a good man, he shared coldness around the world when he was still mean and very selfish. People can see that people can change their personality and expand their thoughts to others if they want to be liked by other people. Scrooge changed his personality, so now more people like him. Scrooge changes for the better and becomes a more likable person.
