A legend is a story, a lot like a myth, that tells us about ancient times and things that happened. These stories will not necessarily include the gods like the myths. In El Enano, there is a horrible monster stealing food and causing mischief in the village. A kind old woman takes in El Enano thinking he is a baby but when she realizes her mistakes along with the village, El Enano won’t leave. El Enano makes a promise but uses a loophole so he doesn’t have to leave and the villagers are mad. Eventually, they turn to a fox who tells them what to do in order to trick El Enano. The villagers keep on giving him food but they talk in a loud whisper so El Enano can hear that the potatoes are very good so they don’t want him to have them. Hearing this El Enano eats the potatoes from the hearth and explodes. In Dragon,Dragon, there is a horrible dragon that terrorizes the kingdom and the king offers his daughter and some of the kingdom for anyone who slays the dragon. No one's steps up but the cobblers three sons do. The oldest and middle dont listen to him so they get eaten. The last one does and the dragon laughs so he kills him and saves his brothers from the dragon's belly.
These legendary tales teach us the important lesson that excessive greed and a lack of moral standard can ultimately lead to one's own downfall. Greed can cause harm to yourself even without you realizing it. In El Enano, he is greedy for all the food and even the small potatoes that he wants even though he could just leave them, he eats them and explodes. He didn’t realize the danger of eating right from the hearth so this is why greediness blinded him from the danger. In Dragon, Dragon, the dragon did bad things hence destroying the land and terrorizing the women. The Dragon did bad things which eventually caught up to him because bad things cause bad results and at the end, when he laughed at the young cobbler's son, he died from him and the two brothers were saved.Legends teach us values and morals by showing the rewards of good deeds and the dangers of greed.
Legend also gives us ideas about taking time to think through your actions which helps prevent mistakes and leads to better solutions. Problems happen when someone acts before they think about it and makes a mistake while solutions are carefully thought out. In El Enano, he didn’t think before finding the potatoes and eating them because he was blinded by his greed which caused him to explode from the heat. The fox on the other hand is a good example because he used his tricks and thought out ways to defeat El Enano before using the best one and as it turns out, it worked. Thinking before acting can be a crucial part of your life and it's your decision whether or not you take the time to think it through. In Dragon, Dragon, the young son thought about his father's words before using them and the dragon laughed which caused his demise. If he thought about laughing at it that it would have made him vulnerable, maybe he wouldn’t have done it. By taking time to think carefully about our decisions rather than acting on impulse, we can create more positive outcomes and avoid unnecessary mistakes.
These legends follow a classic pattern where heroes triumph over evil forces. This timeless victory of good over evil provides the satisfying conclusion that makes these stories endure. In El Enano, the fox uses his tricks to make El Enano eat the hot potato and he explodes. The good guy is the fox while the bad guy is El Enano and the good guy won. In Dragon, Dragon, the Dragon was terrorizing the kingdom so he is the bad guy while the youngest son is the good guy. The oldest and middle son are good guys too but only the youngest defeated the dragon while the other two didn’t listen to their fathers words. The son defeated the dragon using his fathers words then saved his brother. In these timeless tales, heroes consistently prevail over villains, ensuring that goodness triumphs and justice is served. This victory brings all the stories to a satisfying ending.
Legends are stories that have heroes and then the villain. The hero defeats the villain and there is a happy ending. In El Enano, El Enano is the villain and the fox is the hero where it teaches us about not being greedy and to think before actions. In Dragon Dragon, it teaches us not to do bad things, think before your actions, and that the good guy will defeat the bad guys and have a happy ending. Doing bad things can have bad consequences. So to prevent this from the start, you should just do good things or not do it all. Being greedy is similar as in El Enano, it can blind you from the danger of your actions and you can not think about them and make mistakes or cause problems. Finally, all these legends have a good guy and a bad guy where at the end, the good guy defeats the bad guy and there is a happy ending.
